Stand Up Paddleboards(SUP)

The sport of stand up paddling(SUP) is hitting center stage in the world of alternative surf sports. With its history clearly rooted in Hawaiin surf culture, it has quickly diversified into many forms from surfing to touring, to racing. Today, stand up paddling can be seen on every coastline and is forging its way to the inland waterways and lakes. As a perfect compliment to surfing and kiteboarding, stand up paddling now gives you the possibility to expand your time on the water.

The origins of the sport are lost in antiquity - the ancient Hawaains both paddled canoes and surfed, and are very likely to have combined the two sports. In more recent times, Waikiki beach boys engaged in the sport during the heyday of the Waikiki surfing scene - it was called beach boy surfing in those days. The modern resurgence of the sport was initiated by world-class surfers such as Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama, always on the lookout for new ways of having fun in the surf.Stand up paddlesurfing is a great all around cross- training exercise which ustilizes the core muscles and providesa well rounded workout, as well as being a lot of fun!
